The 5 Anime About Nursing Or That Feature It

Nursing is a niche theme across anime but don’t worry, there are some anime that include it.

In this listicle, we will shortly go over the 5 anime that include nursing and we recommend you watch them. Some shows are not really about the topic but feature it in some episodes or key points of the story.

5. Himeyuri

Himeyuri

A short movie of just 30 minutes long that tells a true story, namely that of the group of nurses called Himeyuri, who faithfully served Japan during World War II.

A very interesting view from a historical perspective, telling a different side of history, of those who tried to curb evil and do good actions.

The main issue with this production is that it doesn’t really make justice to the importance of the theme.

4. Roujin Z

Roujin Z

An OAV consisting of a single episode released in 1991. The plot blends the nursing element with distinct science fiction elements.

A now disabled elderly man offers himself as a guinea pig for an experiment involving artificial intelligence that is supposed to enable him to walk again. Not everything goes as hoped, however.

A one-episode viewing that given even its short length is worthwhile, with an exquisite vintage atmosphere that is very appealing.

Expect comical situations and a lot of fun, with a few sad moments too.

3. Ray the Animation

Ray the animation

Another anime that combines in itself science fiction elements with the medical aspect. We are talking about Ray the Animation, released in 2006 and 13 episodes long.

Ray grew up in an illegal site in charge of breeding living organ donors.

Because of this, she is deprived of her eyes, which, however, are restored thanks to the intervention of the mysterious doctor B.J.

What she does not know, however, is that those eyes will allow her to see in x-rays, an ability she will use in the future as a nurse.

An anime that has the distinction of being comprehensive and not at all repetitive, telling all it has to say without repeating itself or leaving plot holes.

2. Black Jack

Black Jack

Another OAV series this time of 10 episodes, but still vintage, since it came out starting in 1993. We are talking about Black Jack.

Born from the brilliant mind of legendary master Osamu Tezuka, Black Jack tells the story of the eponymous renegade doctor, struggling with a new patient each time.

This work takes the trouble to show the world of medicine without veils or stereotypes, showing its most dramatic side. Not to be missed.

1. Monster

Monster

A 74-episode anime based on Naoki Urasawa’s masterpiece of the same name, it represents a true staple of the investigation and thriller genre.

The work follows the story of Kenzo Tenma, a renowned surgeon. One day, he decides to rebel against his boss, thus saving a child from a fatal wound instead of the mayor of Düsseldorf, the city where the hospital is located.

Time will prove Dr. Tenma wrong as he realizes that the child he saved, Johan Liebert, has actually become over time a serial killer who continues to claim lives.

Nothing is taken for granted, from the twists and turns to the evolution of the characters, all the more reason not to miss this absolute masterpiece. Johan, moreover, is considered no less than one of the best villains ever.

Even though this anime is not really related to nursing per se, we have to include it because it’s a must-see and you will love it. We recommend the original manga if you have the opportunity to read it.
